Step 1 — Look at the lengths and ends of your hair
When choosing your extensions, don't focus only on your roots, but especially on the lengths and ends of your hair. That's where your own hair and the extensions need to blend beautifully.
Your hair color may be darker or simply different at the roots than throughout the rest of your hair. Therefore, use the middle section and the ends as your main reference. Do you have multiple tones in your hair? Then choose the shade that appears most often in the lengths.

Step 2 — Choose between a solid color or balayage
Solid color
Is your hair mostly the same color throughout its length? Then a solid shade usually works best. When choosing, consider not only how light or dark your hair is, but also its undertone.
Balayage
Do you have darker roots that gradually transition into lighter lengths and ends? Then a balayage color can provide a more natural blend. Take a close look at both the dark and light shades in your own hair and compare them with the color transition of the extensions.
Step 3 — Determine your undertone
Cool
Ashy, beige or cool shades without much gold.
Warm
Golden, honey or caramel-like nuances.
Neutral
A balance between warm and cool tones.
