The right number of tape extensions depends on your goal (thickening or lengthening) and your hair thickness. With Luxury for Princess, you work with premium 100% Remy Human Hair that blends seamlessly and can be reused. Below, you’ll find quick and reliable advice in packs, sandwiches and grams, so you can immediately determine what you need. Would you like to go over the basics first? Quick advice by goal and hair thickness
- Thickening: 1-2 packs (50-100 g) - 10-20 sandwiches. Ideal for fine to normal hair that could look fuller.
- Lengthening for thin hair: 2-3 packs (100-150 g) - 20-30 sandwiches. Adds length with natural density. Working along a fine hairline or on detailed areas? Consider Mini tape extensions.
- Lengthening for normal hair: 3 packs (150 g) - 30 sandwiches. A full yet still natural result.
- Lengthening for thick or abundant hair: 4 packs (200 g) - 40 sandwiches. For maximum fullness and a truly full look.
Do you have very short hair, lots of layers or a wide circumference? Allow for 1 extra pack for a seamless transition. Find specific guidelines in Which tape extension length should you choose.
How to convert pieces, sandwiches and grams
Luxury for Princess tape-in packages contain 50 g per pack with 10 double, pre-taped wefts. A double weft is what is often called a sandwich: two tapes “sandwiched” around a thin section of your own hair. One pack therefore equals 10 sandwiches or 20 individual tapes. The recommendations in this guide refer to sandwiches and grams, making it easy to compare and combine options. Prefer to work with individual tapes? Divide the number of sandwiches by 1 and multiply by 2 to calculate the number of pieces. Also view Tape-in extensions (50 g per set) to see the weight and contents per set.
Is 100 grams enough for a full head?
For thickening, 100 g is often more than enough. For a full head of extensions, 100 g is usually too little, except for very fine hair or when you only want a subtle increase in length. As a guideline, 150 g is suitable for natural, full lengthening on normal hair, and 200 g for thick hair or an extra-glamorous look. Want certainty? Photograph your loose hair from the back and compare the density at the ends with the hair on top: the more transparent the ends, the more grams you need. For shorter looks, such as 40 cm tape extensions, you often need fewer grams. Going for extra length? View 60 cm tape extensions to see what is possible for each length.
Assessing your hair thickness and desired result
- Thin hair: soft circumference, transparent ends, ponytail feels light. Choose the lower end of the recommendations.
- Normal hair: defined circumference, average density. Use the middle values.
- Thick/abundant hair: full circumference, substantial ponytail. Choose the higher end or 1 extra pack.
Do you only want body and bounce? Choose thickening. Do you want length and fullness all the way to the ends? Choose lengthening and use the higher gram recommendation.
Wear time, reuse and maintenance at a glance
You should move tape extensions up every 6-8 weeks on average, depending on your hair growth. With proper care, the hair itself lasts approximately 6-12 months and can be reused with new tape tabs. Use heat and styling products sparingly, avoid oil and conditioner at the roots, and choose care products suitable for extensions. This keeps the attachment strong and preserves the shine of your 100% Remy hair.
